Infection Control & Enhanced PPE
The ONLY Dental Office in the USA to Wear C-Suits during COVID-19 Pandemic
Dr. Hunsicker-Morrissey and Dr. Brong rely on a staff of professional hygienists and dental assistants to provide patients with the safest, highest quality care. Keeping the HDG care team safe from infection is the first step in keeping our patients safe. Preventing the spread of infection starts with personal protective equipment (PPE). But being able to see patients during the height of the 2020 coronavirus outbreak required extraordinary measures. That’s why Hellertown Dental Group invested in specially designed infection control suits for our care team.
During the Red Phase of the outbreak, each member of the Hellertown Dental team was provided with a biological infection control C-Suit from RT Technologies of Dunwoody, Georgia. The suits meet guidelines from both the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) to resist penetration by blood, viruses, chemical agents, and other dangerous compounds.
The suits are made of Demron™, a unique radiation-blocking fabric manufactured by Radiation Shield Technologies of Miami, FL. The non-toxic polymer material has radiation protection similar to lead shielding but is lightweight and flexible. Combined with other protective materials, suits made of Demron become highly effective barriers to chemical and biological threats, in addition to radiation.
Hellertown Dental Group is currently the only dental practice in the country to wear these suits, which have been scientifically proven to shield against infection, including infection from SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus responsible for COVID-19.
Enhanced Personal Protective Equipment
“We’re only a few minutes away for most patients from Allentown, Bethlehem and Lehigh Valley, but we have seen patients from all over Pennsylvania and New Jersey, because they want the best dentistry and most comprehensive protection for their family and loved ones. We take patient safety to the next level.”
These high-tech infection control suits made it possible for the care team at Hellertown Dental Group to remain open and provide emergency care during the Red Phase of the 2020 coronavirus outbreak and will allow us to continue providing care in the event of a major resurgence.
In the meantime, our care team continues to use other personal protective equipment, including shoe covers, hair covers, gloves, face shields, and double masks, including the gold standard N95 mask required by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the CDC. All patients will be asked to wear face masks (if you forget yours, we’ll be happy to supply you with one), and in some cases a rubber dental dam will be used to further prevent aerosolization.
Keeping our patients and our staff safe from infection means Hellertown Dental Group can remain open to meet your dental needs!
